In this bizarre but enjoyable arena action game, you play the role of a monkey who has gotten misplaced and must now use her explosives to blast her way down via a floating island full of nasties in order to fight the monster and return home. Pijaka Blast 3D is a fantastic game, but it would have been much better with my input during the design phase. The concept is brilliant, fusing elements of classic arcade cabinet gameplay with modern 3D aesthetics. However, the forced grinding isn't so wonderful, as you can only level up when you die and must restart from the very beginning. It's frustrating since most improvements, even those that need you to reach a specific level before applying them, increase by such little amounts that you may as well be chipping away at a huge rock with a sharpened toothbrush. 

As the variety (and quantity) of foes rise, Pijaka's limited weaponry will push you to learn to think intelligently, and the tiered benefits in the upgrades, such as the double-jump, will be pretty helpful. This entire thing exudes a delightfully goofy feel, making it the kind of game that is not only a great way to while away a short amount of time but also one you might end yourself spending a lot more time on than you intended. It has some kinks to work out, particularly in terms of translation, but it's a fun, challenging, and original experience overall. Enjoy this fantastic but strange action game. Help the monkey to rope pumps along a floating island to defend against waves of enemies, defeat the bad, to find the way back home. Good luck, and have fun!
